All applicants must be at least 18 years old when they apply.

All portfolio links need to be working links. Check this by opening the link to your portfolio in an incognito tab! Portfolios do not need to be Google Drive links as long as they are easily accessible and viewable to the mods. We will NOT be contacting applicants about unusable links.

All portfolios should contain at least one MDZS piece, preferably of the ship(s) that you wish to contribute for.

Please state if you have a NSFW piece in your portfolio.

If you’re applying to multiple positions, please apply to each role separately through their respective forms. If you’re using the same portfolio link for each application, please label your folders correctly (i.e. one folder for merch, one folder for writing).

Applicants do not need previous zine experience to apply, nor will this affect the chances of you being accepted.

Applications will be judged blind and contributors will be chosen solely based on their skills.

General expectations apply to all contributors.

Do not share or sell work created for the zine outside of the zine server until the mods announce permission to do so. The same applies to previews – the mods will announce when contributors are allowed to share previews.

All contributors will be required to join our Discord server for the creation of the zine, as this will be our main form of communication.

Be respectful to everyone. If the mods find out about any harassment, we reserve the right to kick the contributor in question out of the zine regardless of the progress they have made.

Contributions must be work created specifically for the zine by the contributor: any plagiarism, unauthorized collaboration, reuse of previously generated content, or usage of AI will not be tolerated.

Provide 3 COMPLETED samples of your best works

At least 1 MDZS sample is required

Provide a portfolio consisting of at least 5-10 pieces of your work (excluding samples)

You may apply using artwork of any ship

Fully illustrated backgrounds are preferred, but not required

If you’re applying to both page and merch, please separate your samples into different folders and label them accordingly

If you have no previous merch samples or ideas, submit samples of the style you would like to use for the merch to be considered for merch

Experience in making merch is preferred, but not required

Traditional art can be accepted if scanned and uploaded in high quality

We CANNOT judge you blind if you link to your Twitter/Instagram page for portfolio samples. If you want to be blind-judged, you MUST link to google drive or some other anonymous place where we can read their work.

Provide 3-5 samples (1k-2k) that best represent the writing style you wish to bring to this zine

At least one sample must be a complete story

Other samples may be excerpted from longer stories

At least one piece must be for MDZS

Writing portfolio is preferred but NOT required

We CANNOT judge you blind if you link to your AO3 page for work samples. If you want to be blind-judged, you MUST link to google docs or some other anonymous place where we can read their work.
